Mandatory football parent meeting for all parents on Sunday July 28th 2013 (click here)
Hello everyone, I hope you have enjoyed the summer. Game time is almost here and I wanted to make you aware of a few important items. If you notice a parent not on this email list, please forward this email to them.
We will be having a mandatory football parent meeting for all parents on Sunday July 28th in the West Hall High School cafeteria. The High School portion of the meeting will begin at 5:00 pm followed by the Middle School portion at 7:00 pm. If your son plans on playing football this season at West Hall High School or West Hall Middle School, it is very important that every player has at least one parent or guardian present at the session. We have to finalize paperwork for the season and it’s important that I pass along information to you. Please make your plans to attend. I promise to try and keep each meeting to an hour but it’s important information for you.

GHSA Mandatory Practices begin Thursday July 25th from 9am to 12 noon. This is the official start of the season. All players must attend all practices beginning this date for mandatory heat acclamation period dictated by the state for five consecutive days leading into our first day in full pads on August 1st. August 1st is also when all player pack money is due if you did not meet the fundraising requirement yet. I will be giving more information about the high school camp for August 2nd at the parent meeting. Just a reminder that players are not allowed to miss more than 5 practices throughout the season in order to remain on the team and can’t miss any of these heat acclamation days. It is important that everyone is there, everyday.
On Monday, I will be issuing the discount cards out to those players who did not have enough time to sell their requirement.

Since I have created a “7th Grade Team” and an “8th Grade Team” it is important for you to attend the parent meeting on August 28th so I can continue to give you information as to how our middle school team will operate and finalize required forms. You must have a current physical on file to participate in football.
Please be reminded from our meeting last April that in order for your son to participate on our middle school team, there is a fundraising requirement of $200 per player and this is mandatory and required to play. Many parents took advantage of selling our 10 discount cards during the spring to satisfy this requirement. If you have not done so, I have the cards again for you to sell so you don’t have to come out of your pocket or you can provide the $200 and keep the 10 cards for yourself. The total fundraising requirement is due no later than the first day of full pads practice on August 5th.
These are the official middle school practice and begin dates. Circumstances beyond my control have forced me to alter them just a little.
The first official day we will be together for middle school practice will be Tuesday July 30 at 5 PM. We will issue helmets and equipment on that day at 5 pm sharp in the field house. The county has adopted a similar rule as the high school for middle school players with a 3 day period for conditioning and heat acclamation prior to a player beginning practices. I strongly recommend your son begin conditioning on his own in order to prepare for these sessions. So after we give equipment on the 30th, we will start conditioning practice in helmets only from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. We will begin practice in full pads with middle school players on Monday August 5th from 4 – 5:30 from then on. For simplicity purposes, it looks like this:
Tuesday July 30th at 5 pm – Equipment and locker issue
Tuesday July 30th from 6 pm until 7:30 conditioning in helmets only
Wednesday July 31st from 6-7:30 pm conditioning in helmets only
Thursday August 1st from 6-7:30 pm conditioning in helmets only
Nothing for middle school on Friday August 2nd.
Monday August 5th – 4-5:30 practice in full pads ($200 fundraising due)
Our organization has been working hard all summer and I am excited about the upcoming season for all of our teams. I look forward to seeing all of you at the parent meeting on July 28th!
